Breathing Space is funded by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets to provide up to 30 free places per year on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for depression courses for people living on a low income in Tower Hamlets.

To be eligible for a free place you need to be:

  • Resident in Tower Hamlets
  • Unemployed, on benefits or low income
  • Between 18 and 65 years old
  • Have had 3 or more episodes of depression
  • Willing to commit yourself to attending all 8 sessions
  • Able to take part in monitoring and evaluation

Please note that this course is not appropriate if you are currently feeling significantly depressed.

What happens next?

We will let you know if you are eligible for a free place within two weeks of receiving your application. If requests are very high we may need to ask you to go on a waiting list. If you are not eligible, you are still very welcome to attend as a paying participant; we try to keep course fees to the minimum (£125 full wage, £95 low wage).

Free places on follow on retreats

Breathing Space is also funded by Tower Hamlets Social Services to provide up to 15 free places per year on two-day retreats for newcomers to Mindfulness Based Approaches or people who have completed Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) for depression courses. More info here.
